Home learning project for Spring 1

Dear Parents/Carers,

After the Christmas holidays, our History topic will be the Great Fire of London. We are asking children to spend some time finding out some information about this event in history. You may want to visit your local library to see if they have any books about this topic or use a child friendly search engine like Kid Rex https://www.alarms.org/kidrex/ to find information. We are happy for you to present your findings in any way you like e.g. a poster, leaflet or art work focused on some of the buildings that were damaged in the fire e.g. St Paul’s Cathedral.

Some questions you might want to try and answer:

When was the Great Fire of London?

How did the fire start?

Who was Thomas Farriner?

Please ensure all projects are in school by the Wednesday 15th January 2020.

Many thanks

Ms Raza, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Gerrard and Mrs Florent

Handwriting!

Correct letter formation is a really important aspect of your child's writing. Please find some sheets of 'letter families' below that you can print off and practice with your child at home. We recommend one sheet per week with ongoing practice of the three letters on that sheet.

We will be working on the first sheet focusing on the letters c, a and o in week 7 in  the first half of Autumn Term.

Many thanks

Year 1 homework project for Autumn Term 1

Dear Parents/Carers,

It was lovely to see so many of you at the ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting. Thank you for your support and for the class donations. The year 1 presentation is now on the school website.

After half term, we will be learning about healthy eating. We are asking children to keep a food diary every day for one week; please help them to complete this in their own writing.

We are also sending home a paper plate for children to draw, paint or create a healthy eating plate of food. They can be as artistic as they like! They can think about the school dinner system of green and red days to help them and use the food pyramid below.

Please ensure all projects are in school by the 16th of October 2019.

Many thanks

Ms Raza, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Gerrard and Mrs Florent
