Updates for parents on our Year 6 Outdoor and Adventurous trip to PGL Bawdsey Manor in Suffolk.
Day 1
Well, we are all very pleased to find out that PGL have managed some significant improvements in their connectivity and we actually have some good Wi-Fi here this year - let's hope it holds out until we get all the photos up!
The children have had a great start to their adventure, taking part in a PGL games tournament for their first activity last night.
For most, dinner was a hit - 'best sausages I've ever had!' and 'So... We can just help ourselves to the salad bar?' although we did have a quote along the lines of... 'What, no halloumi?' from one of our pupils! :)
Today, the children have been on the giant swing - and I think I may have seen a group do the highest swing I've seen in all my PGL years so far - I'm sure the girls will tell you who they were when they get home!
The children have completed the challenge course, done archery and worked in pairs to climb Jacob's ladder (see if you can spot the pupil that made it to the very top!). Teachers have said that it has been fantastic to see how well the children are working together for these activities.
We had our shop visit today too so, hopefully, some of you will get souvenirs - but for others, I'm afraid that your 'souvenirs' will have been eaten because tonight, they'll finish up with snacks and treat time in their rooms.
I'm sure they will all be very ready for lights-out at 10pm.
All the staff feel that we have another great group with us this year - your children have been amazing so far!
Group 1: Fatima K, Raniya, Lavarna, Ryleigh, Aras, Boyan, Arel, Samuel, Edis, Kalindu & Taylan

Late night edit - The PGL Wi-Fi hasn't let us down but, would you believe it? The Arbor site is under maintenance and we are not able to send parent emails to link to this page - if you see the site for updates, please try to inform other parents so that they can view photos! Thank you!
Day 2
So, technology is not on our side. But finally the Wifi returned and we are able to update the website!
We have all had another brilliant day of activities and the weather has been fantastic.
As always, the children slept like logs for the second night – after a full day of activities the children were more than ready for bed!
However, this is the first year we’ve had a child ask ‘Miss, could you give this a quick iron for me?’ when getting ready in the morning though!
Today, the children have been fencing in the Manor House, climbing, zip-lining and relaxing by the sea after a coastal walk. I’ll apologise now, if your child arrives home with a bag full of stones and sea shells – apparently they are all very precious treasure.
Tonight the children had an orienteering activity followed by some early packing and time in the rooms for games, reading and relaxing.
Lights out was at 10 but many children elected for an early bed time and had their own lights out before we could tell them.
They are all packed up and ready for our last two activities tomorrow - abseiling and problem solving and then we'll be heading home, after lunch. We'll keep school updated on our progress but expect to see you all at around 4.30pm.
The children have had a great time and we have been continually impressed by their teamwork and determination and proud of the positive comments about them we have had from PGL staff.
See the 'PGL Bawsey Manor Photos' on the right under 'In This Section' for the latest snaps from our trip!
