    Welcome to our Reception Gallery!

The Reception team at Firs Farm have been busy giving our pots and herb garden a wonderful revamp ready for the children to start! The Reception children will now be able to help water and care for the plants, keeping them healthy and blossoming throughout the year. A very special thank you goes to Mrs Mansfield for her green-fingered touch in bringing the space to life. We’d love for parents to take a peek through the fence as you walk past the outside area by Reception/Year 1, to see the transformation. We think you’ll agree it looks fantastic!

This page offers a joyful snapshot of life in our Reception classes, capturing the excitement, curiosity and confidence of our youngest learners as they explore the world around them. Our photographs showcase learning through purposeful play, discovery and meaningful experiences, all carefully planned and underpinned by the seven areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

You will see children developing Communication and Language as they talk, listen, question and share ideas, alongside Personal, Social and Emotional Development, where our values of Kindness, Respect and Togetherness are at the heart of everything we do. Children are supported to build positive relationships, develop independence and grow in confidence. Physical Development is promoted through active play, fine motor activities and daily opportunities to move, explore and challenge themselves.

Our rich learning environment also supports early Literacy and Mathematics, with children engaging in stories, mark-making, counting, problem-solving and practical investigations. Through Understanding the World, children develop their natural curiosity as they explore their environment, learn about their community and make sense of the world around them. Creativity flourishes through Expressive Arts and Design, where imagination, music, art, construction and role play are celebrated.

Outdoor learning is an integral part of our Reception provision, with children free to access outdoor areas throughout the day. These spaces enhance all areas of learning and encourage exploration, collaboration and resilience, supporting our commitment to Excellence in early education.

Together, these photographs reflect a vibrant, nurturing environment where every child is supported to thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.
