From Mrs Husband

Dear Parent/Carer

As we enter the last couple of weeks of term we know one thing - it gets busy!  Next week children will receive their end of year reports and information about classes for September. We have an Open Afternoon on Wednesday 8th July for you to celebrate your child's work and visit their new class. If you do want to speak to your child's teacher about their report please book a separate meeting.

Thank you to all the families that made sure children came to school during the hot weather ready for the day. Next week is looking hot again so children can wear PE kits if it is cooler or, of course, our summer uniform. Please make sure children come to school with bottled water and sun-cream is applied before leaving for home.  As I write this, there are no current weather warnings or advice for schools, but that could change.

We have had to cancel our Sports Day. We really tried to organise it in another way, but the forecast is creating too many problems – we know that families and children are really disappointed, and we are going to look at holding this much earlier in the Summer Term next year.

Next week we will celebrate children in our achievement assembly and Summer Values Awards.  Due to the hot weather, we have decided to not do these as whole school assemblies but as a smaller gathering with just the families and children receiving awards.  If your child has been nominated, you should have received an email. All awards are happening at 9.15am so that we can use the coolest part of the day.

We are currently looking at our Enrichment Clubs for the Autumn Term. Whilst our Discovery Club, Football, Drama and our Homework club are very popular, we have seen a marked decrease in children signing up for the other clubs. We are looking at how we can make these more accessible for children and cost-effective for families.

ENRICHMENT AT FIRS FARM

We are incredibly proud of all the opportunities we give children to enrich their education beyond the classroom.

From Drama Clubs to Choirs at Wembley, from Football to organised sport at lunchtime.  We have sleepovers, trips to France, camping at Cuffley and PGL.

All of these promote skills beyond the classroom including resilience, independence and teamwork.  And they are good fun!

It all costs money though and we know that over the years these costs have risen along with everything else.

Next year we want to try to make our enrichment offer more cost-effective so that all children have the opportunity to join-in.

We are launching a Firs Farm Enrichment Fund. The vision is that we will raise money to reduce the costs of visits and trips for all children.  We will have events throughout next year to raise funds please watch this space!
