From Mrs Husband

Dear Parent/Carer

We're nearly at the end of our first half-term and what term its been! The children have been working really hard, and we can already see the progress they've made.

Our Year 2 Harvest Festival performance was a joyous celebration of food and some great retelling of the Little Red Hen and The Gingerbread Man. The children showed how talented they were – thank you to all the staff that supported this.

For many children in Year 6 they experience their first steps to independence in coming and leaving school on their own.  Please remember, however, that children should not be left on the playground unattended before 8.50am (when the doors open). This is because there is no staff supervision on site before this time.

I look forward to seeing many of you next for our parent/carers consultations and hope everyone has a well-deserved rest over the half-term.

Nuala Husband

THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM YEAR 1

After moving to classrooms in a different location of the school, Year 1 were missing some of  the out door play provision they had in Reception. However, after the Meet the Teacher meeting, Annie's mum, from 1SM, kindly donated  a lovely, brand new kitchen and a  boat shaped sand pit! The children were thrilled, thanks to Annie's mum!

MATCH REPORT

We had our next two games on Wednesday 14th October. We were hoping to end at the top. We had a bit of training before our first game, we did a drill and then coach George named the team.

Our first game started, the ball was being played in and out of the half.  Fir Farm looked dangerous, tuning lots of shots, then after some time it fell to Oliver and we scored to 1-0.  The came the second half, Firs Farm had a corner and as Albion flew into the box, the player headed it. The Referee said “penalty, no headers allowed”. Kai stood behind the ball and we got another goal. The score was 2-0.

With Firs Farm leading by two, and with optimism, we used the long ball tactic.  Firs Farm caused the opposition to header it again: it was another penalty.  Albion smashed it to the bottom corner and it was 3-0.

The game played on with Kai taking shots and other players driving it forward.  Kai crossed it and Albion tapped it in to get another goal.  We had 13 points in the bag!

Straight away we had our next game. Although Firs Farm were attacking this was harder and we rushed many of our shots.  The defenders and Luca were playing it up to the attackers but we couldn’t take advantage of the chances.  Alejandro and Albion came close to scoring but didn’t find the net. In the second half the game became more even but even with a free kick we didn’t score.  The game stayed 0-0. We came in the top 3 of the league.
