We have had a lot of trips over the last few week's from visits to the Royal Court of Justice to our attendance at the Education Technology exhibition BETT please see more about these below (including some incredible writing from our children).

MEASLES OUTBREAK : You may have seen in the news that there is real concern about the amount of Measles at present and there has been a number of cases in local schools. Measles is a really nasty illness and 1 in 5 children will have complications. It is also highly contagious! If your child/ren have not had their MMR we would encourage you to visit your local GP or book one via School Vaccinations UK.

If your child/ren are not vaccinated, and they have a fever and/or a runny nose and cough please visit your GP or dial 111 for advice.

I am looking forward to see many of you at our Parent/Carers evening in 2 weeks.

YEAR 6 VISIT ROYAL COURTS

Trip recounts from Year 6 children

By Paula and Asya-6UH

My class 6UH, went on an amazing school trip to the Royal Courts of Justice on Tuesday the 27th of January 2026 to learn about UK’s legal system- laws and courts for our PSHE learning.

We had to be in our classroom at 8:30 so we could make it in time for the public transport.

Some children had to stand so members of the public and elderly people could sit down. But that was okay because we knew we were doing the right thing by being respectful and kind towards others, showing our school values!

We were all whispering excitedly and joking with each other, it was so fun! After 15 minutes, about 7 stops later at Holborn we got off and we had to go out into the streets.

Traffic lights, tapping heels, car horns and laughter, so noisy. Finally, we reached The Royal Courts of Justice. I was shocked at all the lovely carvings and intricate details in the stone. There were some signs saying NO KNIFES and NO SHARP OBJECTS. It wasn’t really crowded but we still managed to spot some real-life Barristers and Judges!

A lovely lady named Kat had showed us our courtroom and explained a bit about some interesting cases. Our courtroom number was 66 and it was only 30 years old. It was small but modern, with a screen and little microphones hanging at the ceiling. All the barristers and the Judges had to wear funny white wigs – very itchy!

We went through some activities and followed our trial scripts, we improvised our trial as Kat had instructed us to do.  At the end, she told us we did great!  The defendant was eventually found…GUILTY! That was similar to what actually had happened. When we left the court room we started realising small details around the building. Long creamy arches, high ceilings and beautiful portraits. What a beauty!

Ms. Loizou told us that Prince Harry’s case was happening that day and he might be in the building at the time! Unfortunately, we did not get to see him.

We all loved this trip and would love to the Royal Courts of Justice again! I rate it 5 gold stars – it was so much fun!

Sofia Rahman 6S *:???

On Friday (the 23rd of January), 6S and 6SH travelled by bus and then train to the Royal Courts of Justice. 6UH went the following week on a Tuesday (27th January 2026).

The journey started at 8:30 am. We arrived at the bus stop after a short walk through the subway. The two classes boarded two different public buses and arrived at Turnpike Lane Station; after a long train journey, we arrived in Central London! From there, we took a 5 minutes walk to the Royal Courts of Justice!

The majestic building was metres tall; the stained glass made it look like a giant cathedral. Soon after arriving, our tour guide spoke to us about the different roles in court and how it all worked. We made our way to court room 67 and sat down. We then discussed the different types of courts and the cases that were heard in the building- such as Prince Harry’s suit against a newspaper, or Ed Sheeran’s copyright trial.

In 6S, Izzy played the role of the judge, Asimina played the usher and Eli was our clerk. The impartial judge decides whether the defendant is guilty, the usher brings the witnesses to the stand and tells them to take an oath and the clerk tells the usher to bring the witnesses. The prosecution is on the side of the victim, and the defence helps the person being accused.

Soraiya and Ronnie played the defence barristers and Elisa and Nuren played the prosecution barristers. The judge and barristers wore a £500 wig and a black cloak. There were six witnesses: three for the prosecution and three for the defence. Lizzy Nelson, PC Brookes, Maria Ivanova, Chantelle Holmes, Danny Watson and Selena Khan were the witnesses. These roles were played by Lyra, Siyana, myself, Lira, Andy and Mira. Maria was the victim and Selena was the defendant. The voice of the jury (the foreperson) was played by Emmanuel. All of us were involved in the trial, with the rest of the class being jurors. It was a really interesting and fun trip!

In the end, the prosecution won and a real clerk came to talk to us about the fun of working in a court. After our session finished, we all sat to eat lunch and made our way back to school.

Online Safety

We know children really enjoy being online and sharing games/chats with their friends. We also know that it is something that is a real concern for families about how they can help their child/ren stay safe online.

We have an Online Safety page here Firs Farm Primary School - Computing: Online safety for families (found under our Parent/Carers Tabs) which gives information on keeping children safe online.

We've just added a worksheet on children and social media which gives minimum ages and risks of all the main social media sites.

An overview of how to manage the sites is below (below see the PDF on the page to access the hyperlinks).
