Summer 2 Week 1 01.06.20

Remote Home Learning

Maths Summer 2 Week 1 01.06.20 – Fractions.

We are continuing to focus on fractions this week (remember we are revising the topic so you should be able to complete the assignments using your learning from the year so far). Try to show your working out where possible. Please read the work carefully as it clearly states which work you do need to submit.

Each day you will have some arithmetic questions to answer in order to keep your fluency skills ticking over. You will find the answers at the end of the work…no cheating!

This week, you can refer to the BBC Bitesize daily lessons where you will find further explanations and examples of fractions. The link to the website can be found on the PowerPoint. Other useful websites have also been included.

Lesson 1 and 2 – Multiplying fractions

This PowerPoint may take you longer than one session so you may want to complete it over two sessions. Use the PowerPoint to guide you through the steps of the methods used to multiply fractions. Examples have been included for you to practise. There is a lot to cover in this PowerPoint so please take your time to work through the 3 different Tasks. Your tasks include some calculations to solve followed by mastery questions.

Lesson 3 – Dividing fractions.

Work through the PowerPoint to revise the method for dividing fractions. Remember, using a bar model or another pictorial representation may help you to visualise the calculation. Complete the calculations showing your working out clearly. To challenge yourself, complete the mastery tasks.

Lesson 4 – Finding fractions of amounts

As with the previous lessons, use the PowerPoint to work through finding the different fractions. When ready, complete the tasks, showing your working out. There are also optional mastery questions.

If you have any questions or need help, remember you can send an email to year6@firsfarm.enfield.sch.uk.
