At the end of May, 47 Year 5s and 8 adults went to Lille in Northern France for the day. It was a long but very enjoyable day filled with excitement, curiosity and a lot of baguette-buying!
This is the 3rd time we have visited Lille with Year 5 (and our fifth trip to France).
Starting at 7AM at St Pancras Eurostar terminal, Mme Dejonghe planned an exciting day. We explored Lille using the French scavenger hunt Mme Dejonghe had written spotting interesting buildings and following directions (all in French!). The children had the opportunity to practise their French and buy some souvenirs as well as delicious waffles (gaufre), crepes or bubble tea. Our last visit of the day was to a Boulangerie where a lot of baguettes (as well as cakes and treats) were bought.
This is always one of our most enjoyable trips. As ever I was incredibly proud of our children. They were excited, well-mannered, curious and didn't seem tired by the 20,000+ steps we did during the day!
The day ended 12 hours after it began at 7pm at St Pancras where we were met by cheering families.
Merci et abientot Lille!
