At Firs Farm we believe that Uniform supports children in feeling part of a community (our value of Togetherness is part of this).  Our uniform policy is designed to create a sense of belonging, be practical and suitable for wearing all day in school, and we have ensured it is cost-effective for parents/carers to provide.  

Children and families are expected to follow the uniform policy and requirements at all times. We understand, however at times this may be difficult. If your child will temporarily be wearing a non-uniform item, then please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance.

Financial Difficulties

Families having financial difficulties may be able to get a grant to help with uniform costs from Enfield Council. Please go to Household Support Fund | Enfield Council to find out more.

Families who receive Free School Meals can receive a uniform assistance voucher from the school worth £20. Please email the school office for more details on how to receive this. 

Firs Farm also sells second-hand uniform periodically throughout the year – the school office will send details of the timings of these sales.  

Our uniform policy (please see the policy link at the bottom of this page for the full document) is fully compliant with the 2026 School Wellbeing Bill. We have a limited number of branded items and all other items are freely available from a range of retailers. This helps families reduce the cost of the uniform.  

Reception to Year 6 Uniform

• Burgundy sweatshirt or cardigan. This can be brought with the school logo via Lyons School Shop/Uniform4KIds. 
• Grey or black trousers, shorts, pinafore or skirt. We do not allow leggings on their own (under a skirt/pinafore is permitted), cycling shorts or very short shorts.  Shorts should be tailored and just above the knee. 
• White polo shirt or cotton shirt
• Summer uniform: Burgundy checked dress, skirt/top or playsuit
• Black shoes. We allow black trainer-style shoes. We do not allow boots, shoes with heels or trainers.
• White, grey or black socks or tights
• White, black, grey or burgundy Hijab/religious head covering. Hijab's should all in one and to the shoulder/top of torso (this is for health and safety reasons). Head coverings should not pose a health and safety risk e.g. long and able to be caught/pulled. 
• White, black, grey or red/burgundy hair bows, bands or ties. 

Our PE Uniform:

• House colour T-shirt (if you are unsure of your child's house/colour this will be on the Arbor app or the office can help). The colours are Blue, Yellow, Red, Turquoise . House T-shirts can be purchased with the school logo from Lyons School Shop/Uniform4Kids - otherwise they should be plain with no logos or markings.
• Black shorts and/or jogging bottoms.  Shorts and jogging bottoms should be plain with no logos or markings.  We do not allow leggings other than sport leggings. We do not allow cycling shorts or very short shorts.
• Black trainers or plimsolls. We do not allow trainers with excessive branding, markings, coloured laces or excessive soles. 

Nursery Uniform:

• Black or grey jogging bottoms
• White polo shirt or T-shirt.
• Burgundy sweatshirt.  This can be brought with the school logo via Lyons School Shop/Uniform4KIds. 
• Black trainers 

Nursery does not have a separate PE uniform. During the summer, children may wear black or grey shorts. 

Other Uniform expectations:

• Children should not wear any jewellery other than stud earrings. This is for health and safety reasons.  Children may wear small birthday badges but please make sure that they are pinned securely.
• Religious Jewellery: Children may wear small items that are significantly relevant (for instance, the Sikh Kara).  All items should be small and suitable for school. For health and safety reasons, we do not allow items on chains, ropes or that are long and could be caught easily. 
• Children may wear a small analogue or digital watch. We do not allow smartwatches of any kind.
• Hair: Long hair should be tied back. Children should have small hairbands or ties (red, black or white). We do not allow excessive ribbons, bows or hairbands. We do not allow coloured hair e.g. pink, red etc or coloured hair extensions. 
• Mobile Phones: We do not allow children to bring Smart Phones on the premises at any time. If you wish your child in Year 6 to have a mobile phone they may hand in a "brick" phone e.g. without GPS/Internet access) to the school office every morning.

Alternatively, many retailers stock non-branded items.

Uniform Policy
