The School Day & Timings

At Firs Farm we believe children need a structured day with plenty of opportunities to play with their peers.

Our school day starts at 9am and finishes at 3.30pm for all classes.  This means children have 32.5 hours of time in school.

For Year Groups 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 the doors open at 8.50am for a soft start.

We have an in-hours breakfast/after school provision Discovery Club that runs from 7.30-8.50am in the morning and 3.30 to 6pm in the evening. Please book via Arbor.

Other after schools such as sports clubs etc have differing times and frequencies. Please see the dedicated page to find out what is on offer.

If you wish to speak to your child's teacher please wait until the end of the day when there is more time.  Alternatively please email your child's year group, the school office or call and a message will be passed on.  There is always a member of SLT on duty at the start and end of the school day and can help with any enquiries.

Children in Years 1 to 6 have a 15 minute morning break.  Children in Years 1 and 2 also have a 15 minute afternoon break. Reception children have regular access to outside play organised by the Reception Team.

Rec to Year 6 have a 1 hour lunch time. Lunchtimes are as follows:

  • Rec, Year 1 and Year 2: 11.45-12.45pm (In the Autumn/Spring terms Reception will go from 11.30 and be supported by their class teachers)
  • Year 3,4,5,6: 12.30-1.30pm

School lunches are free for all children this year (23-24) and can be ordered via the Parent Portal on Arbor.

Snacks

Children in Rec, Year 1 and Year 2 recieve a free piece of fruit each day.  Children in Years 3,4,5,6 may bring a piece of fruit as a snack to have at lunchtime.

Assemblies

Assemblies take place in the morning. Children have assemblies 4x a week. Once a week there is a Whole School Assembly (usually on a Friday).
